[isaacsim.ucx.bridge] UCX Bridge#
Version: 1.2.2
Overview#
The isaacsim.ucx.bridge extension provides high-performance communication capabilities using UCX (Unified Communication X) for distributed simulation scenarios with low-latency data transfer. This extension serves as an integration point that brings together core UCX functionality and node-based communication components to enable efficient distributed computing in Isaac Sim.
Key Components#
UCX Integration Layer#
The extension acts as a bridge that combines UCX communication infrastructure with node-based processing capabilities. UCX (Unified Communication X) is a high-performance networking framework designed for low-latency data transfer in distributed systems, making it particularly suitable for real-time simulation scenarios that require fast inter-process or inter-node communication.
Communication Framework#
The bridge establishes a unified communication framework by integrating UCX core services with specialized communication nodes. This architecture enables distributed Isaac Sim instances to exchange simulation data efficiently, supporting scenarios where multiple simulation environments need to coordinate or share computational workloads.
Functionality#
The extension enables distributed simulation capabilities by providing:
High-performance network communication channels between distributed Isaac Sim instances
Low-latency data transfer mechanisms optimized for simulation workloads
Integration of UCX networking protocols with Isaac Sim’s computational graph
Support for distributed computing scenarios where simulation tasks are spread across multiple nodes
Relationships#
The extension depends on isaacsim.ucx.core for fundamental UCX communication services and isaacsim.ucx.nodes for node-based communication components. The core extension provides the underlying UCX networking infrastructure, while the nodes extension supplies the computational graph integration points. Together, these components enable the bridge extension to create a complete distributed communication solution.
All configuration settings for the UCX bridge are managed centrally through the isaacsim.ucx.core extension, providing a unified configuration interface for the entire UCX communication stack.
Enable Extension#
The extension can be enabled (if not already) in one of the following ways:
Define the next entry as an application argument from a terminal.
APP_SCRIPT.(sh|bat) --enable isaacsim.ucx.bridge
Define the next entry under [dependencies] in an experience (.kit) file or an extension configuration (extension.toml) file.
[dependencies]
"isaacsim.ucx.bridge" = {}
Open the Window > Extensions menu in a running application instance and search for isaacsim.ucx.bridge.
Then, toggle the enable control button if it is not already active.
