[isaacsim.test.collection] Isaac Sim Tests#
Version: 2.6.7
Overview#
isaacsim.test.collection provides a comprehensive testing framework for Isaac Sim that validates robot simulations, physics behavior, and various subsystems. This extension contains integration tests that are not tied to specific extensions but rather test cross-system functionality and core Isaac Sim capabilities.
Functionality#
Integration Testing Framework - The extension provides tests that validate interactions between multiple Isaac Sim systems, ensuring that robot simulations, physics engines, and rendering components work correctly together.
Robot Simulation Validation - Tests cover wheeled robot behaviors, robot control systems, and robotic workflows to ensure proper simulation fidelity and performance across different robot types and configurations.
Physics System Testing - Validates physics behavior through tests that exercise both the core physics engine and PhysX implementation, ensuring accurate collision detection, dynamics, and constraint solving.
Rendering and Visualization Tests - Tests the rendering pipeline and visualization components to verify that simulation data is accurately displayed and that rendering performance meets expectations.
Key Components#
Test Categories#
The extension organizes tests into several key areas that correspond to major Isaac Sim subsystems. Tests validate experimental object creation and manipulation through the experimental prims system, ensuring that new features work correctly before full release.
Graph-based testing validates Action Graph nodes and their execution, testing the node-based programming system that drives many Isaac Sim automations and behaviors.
Storage system tests ensure that simulation data can be properly saved, loaded, and managed using the native storage backend.
Cross-System Integration#
Tests specifically focus on validating interactions between systems rather than isolated functionality. This includes testing how the simulation manager coordinates with physics systems, how rendering updates respond to physics changes, and how asset conversion affects simulation behavior.
The framework tests viewport integration to ensure that simulation visualization works correctly within the standard Isaac Sim interface, validating that users can properly observe and interact with running simulations.
Relationships#
The extension integrates with core Isaac Sim systems including the simulation manager for coordinating test execution, the rendering manager for visual validation, and experimental components for testing upcoming features. It utilizes the timeline system to control simulation progression during tests and leverages Replicator for generating synthetic data validation scenarios.
Physics testing relies on both the core physics system and PhysX implementation to validate different aspects of physical simulation accuracy and performance across various scenarios and configurations.
Enable Extension#
The extension can be enabled (if not already) in one of the following ways:
Define the next entry as an application argument from a terminal.
APP_SCRIPT.(sh|bat) --enable isaacsim.test.collection
Define the next entry under [dependencies] in an experience (.kit) file or an extension configuration (extension.toml) file.
[dependencies]
"isaacsim.test.collection" = {}
Open the Window > Extensions menu in a running application instance and search for isaacsim.test.collection.
Then, toggle the enable control button if it is not already active.
